Patrons of School District No 1, Marion, went to the polls Tuesday in a special bond election and approved the additional $35,000 authorization proposed. The new building will have 12 full-size classrooms, restrooms, a large multi-purpose room, lunchroom, a fully equipped kitchen, storerooms, teacher’s workroom, and offices

Donna Janzen was last year’s Cherry Pie Baking Champion for Kansas. Margene Savage is this year’s state champion. Margene will go to Chicago Feb. 18 to represent Kansas in the national contest. Two consecutive state championships from one club is a rarity and couldn’t happen to two more charming representatives for the state.

Ownership of the Del Mar Cafe will change on Feb. 1 when Irene Hett will assume management. Miss Hett has purchased the popular eating spot from Mrs. Henry Laudner, who has owned and operated it for several years.

Robert Konarik of the Pilsen Lucky 13 4-H Club received a gold watch at the Marion County 4-H Council meeting for his work in promotional activity promoting the Kansas 4-H Foundation.
