The annual spring Cottonwood Valley Poultry Barbecue and Jamboree will be held in Marion next Wednesday, Feb. 3. Prof. Tom Avery of Kansas State University will supervise the barbecuing of the chickens. The committee is expecting 800 persons at the barbecue.

Phillip Rudolph of rural Marion was the winner of $200 at Marion’s Cash Day drawing this Wednesday afternoon and he was present to claim it. However, Mr. Rudolph donated $125 of his prize to St. Luke Hospital.

June Jost, well-known dairy farmer living at the east edge of Marion, announces this week that he will be a candidate for sheriff on the Republican ticket.

Dennis Robertson, star Marion High School football player has been named to the 1959 All-American honorable mention list in the center spot.

The F&J Café in Durham has been reopened under a new name and new management. It is now known as Hein’s Café. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Roy Hein are the operators.
