Demolition crews started their work this week at wrecking the Farmers and Drovers bank building, an imposing Marion landmark for many years at the corner of Third and Main streets. The building will be completely razed to make way for a new, modern bank building to be built on the site.

Miss Sue Summervill was crowned Marion County Dairy Princess by the Kansas Dairy Princess, Sandra Warner on Monday of last week at the competition in Hillsboro

Misses Marge Wamser, Nadean Kruse, Norma Sly, and Lou Wheeler will spend several days the latter part of this week vacationing in Colorado.

Mr. and Mrs. Nodie Baker will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary June 26 at an open house at the Marion Christian Church.

Frank Strait, El Dorado oil producer, recently purchased the Jeffers Ranch southeast of Florence. The ranch consists of 300 acres of bottomland and 840 acres of pasture. It formerly belonged to the Steele brothers.

Mrs. Stanley Anderson, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Karl Vogel, and her daughter, Sandra Kay, invited several little friends Thursday to help Sharon celebrate her birthday. Those invited were Debbie Vogel, Sherri Ann Vogel, Martha Kaye Beaston, Sue Woerz, Diana Case, and Suzanne Cook.
