Rapid strides were being made this week to level the three-story well-known Marion landmark, the Wheeler building, at the corner of Third and Main. The building formerly housed the Farmers and Drovers National Bank and the Kaw Theatre.

The Youngtown Sunday school taught by Mrs. Leo Scharenberg had a swimming party and later a picnic supper at the park Sunday evening. Those present were Ruth and Warren Hett, Carmen Hayen, Jackie Thomas, David Goertz, Millcene, Dennis, Leon, and Clarice Scharenberg, Jeff and Steve Davidson, and David Joe and Mark Scharenberg.

Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Thole announce the engagement of their daughter, Karen Lee, to Lt. James L. Socolofsky, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Socolofsky of Ramona. The wedding will be an event of early winter.

A supply of 3x5 size cards, briefing outlining the Marion siren signals to be used in times of emergencies, is being printed for distribution and should be available this weekend. The signals are—Fire, one siren blast; Flood possibility, two blasts followed by two more blasts; Flood predicted, three blasts followed by three more blasts; Tornado sighted, wailing siren; All clear, two blasts.

Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Goertz and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Siebert took a judging team consisting of Diana and David Goertz, Steve Richardson, and Francis Breech, to the Kansas Junior Hereford Association field day at Hoss Hereford Hill at Lincoln, Kansas, on Monday of this week.
