St. Luke Hospital started on its 10th year of operation Oct. 18. A few detailed facts and figures of the operation during the past nine years are being prepared by the administrator, Sister M. Morris, and will be published in the near future.

Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Riggs of Augusta moved to Marion this week and he has joined the staff of the Marion National Bank.

Seven Marion County women completed a special course in home nursing, conducted last week at the Marion American Legion building. Those who graduated include Ella Stenzel, Marjorie Alexander, Bertha Oyer, and Katherine Swan of Marion, Jeannine Farha and Bessie Suffield of Florence, and D.F. Pierce of Peabody.

Mr. and Mrs. W.K. Holmes returned to Marion this week after a two week’s vacation trip to Florida and the Bahamas. The trip, readers will remember, was the first prize offered the Centennial Queen as part of Marion’s Old Settlers’ Centennial celebration early in August.

The builders, S & J Sales Co., and owners, Mrs. Merle Morgann and her son, Donn Mason, of the new Motel Mainliner are making plans to sandwich in a public open house this Sunday in an already busy schedule. The motel has been filled to capacity every night since opening last week. Refreshments will be served, catered by the Owl Car Café.
