The Marion Warrior basketball team, under their new coach, Gerald Keenan, traveled to Moundridge Friday for the season’s opener. They came home with a 38-33 win after a hard fought defensive battle. High scorer for the Warriors was Mike Schwemmer. He was followed by Tim Williams and Steve Greenemeyer.

Edwin M. Wheeler, Topeka, former Marion resident and son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wheeler, has been named assistant to the president of the Santa Fe Railway with headquarters in Chicago, Ill.

Mrs. Norman Abrahams of Hillsboro was guest speaker at the Coterie Club meeting Dec. 4. Her topic was “Holiday Decorating Ideas.” The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Charles Magee with Mrs. James Kline and Mrs. Harold Keazer assisting.

The special feature of the annual meeting of the Marion Athletic Association this year will be a free chili supper for all members on Dec. 11 in the American Legion Hall. Chief chili chef will be none other than Frank Hollar, famed for his chili making ability. Women members are also urged to come.
