Those having perfect attendance at Marion Kiwanis Club meetings in 1961 were recognized Monday at the regular meeting. Included were Ed Sandwell, Homer Stenzel, Kenneth Wingerd, Roger Morse, Bill Meyer, Peter Quiring, Mac Kreuter, Les Powell, Alex Case Jr., Fred Allen, Lynn Christensen, Rendel Newsom, Henry Loveless, Robert Musgrave, Ollie Wight, Walt Oelschlager, and Kermit Smith.

The 1962 fashion-sewing contest for students at Marion High School was held Monday evening in the music room of the high school. Contestants were Susan Carr, Sherry Knoblock, Gwen Broz, Jeanette Williams, Diana Goertz, and Virginia Goentzel. Mary Westerhaus furnished music for the fashion review. The winner of the contest was Gwen Broz.

Miss Rosalie Dohner, bride-elect of Bill Carr was guest of honor at a bridal shower Monday evening in the E.U.B. church parlor. Hostesses were Mrs. Homer Stiller, Mrs. Erwin Bernhardt, Mrs. Roy Hoover, Mrs. June Jost, Mrs. Karl Vanek, Mrs. William Bredemeier, Mrs. A.W. Haizlip, and Mrs. Roy Hiebert.

Marine Pvt. Merle D. Leppke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Leppke of Route 2, Marion, completed the four-week individual combat training course Dec. 29 at the Second Infantry Training Regiment at the Marine Corps Base. Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Mrs. Ronald Lucas announces the engagement of her daughter, Bonnie Irene, to Robert L. Schmidt, son of Mrs. Henry Laudner of Marion and Henry Schmidt of Wichita. No wedding date has been set.
