Sister Mary Scholastica is pictured receiving a scrapbook from members of Marion Girl Scout Troop 59. The scrapbook is for the children’s ward at the hospital. Girls in the troop are Ruth Baxter, Linda Bernhardt, Vicky Bloomquist, Linda Caselman, Becky Davis, Brenda Foth, Pam Griffith, Janet Lawrence, Mary Jo Reznicek, Denise Schlehuber, Mary Spencer, Shirley Stika, Iona Wilson, and Susan Wood.

Mrs. Arnold Holt has been designated “safe driver of the month” and Dennis Pankratz “teenage safe driver of the month” by the United Traffic Safety Commission of Marion. Helmer’s Service Station will provide each winner with five gallons of gasoline.

Mike Navrat, who has been a member of the board of directors of the Lincolnville Farmers Union Cooperative Association for the past 26 years, retired Monday. Navrat was secretary-treasurer of the organization for 13 of the 26 years.

The old Sunflower schoolhouse, along with the land and other buildings, will be sold by sealed bid according to Robert Musgrave, superintendent of the Marion schools. The buildings are located two miles south and 1½ west of Marion.
