W.A. βAlβ Beaman this week has announced he has sold his barbershop in Marion to Verlan Klassen of Leavenworth. Mr. Beaman has been in the barber trade for 52 years, 41 spent in Marion.
John Berns, Peabody, is the new president of the Kansas Livestock Association. His father, Arnold Berns, held the same position 40 years ago and was recognized at the annual meeting of the organization as being the oldest living past president of the group.
L.J. Bezdek, 6β2β senior at Tampa High School, was named on the state all-star team for Class BB high schools this year. He also had the fourth highest scoring average in the state with 27.7 points per game.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Miles of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Tressie Ann, to Marion Kelsey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kelsey of Marion. A late summer wedding is planned.
Keith Conyers of Marion is a member of the cast of one of the skits, written and produced by students, that will be presented March 23 and 24 at Kansas State University. The theme of the skit is a Russian spy network. Keith is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Conyers.
The kindergarten class and several of their mothers attended the Police Circus in Wichita Friday afternoon. The students went to Wichita in the school bus and were met at the Forum building by some of their mothers.
