A new water tower will be constructed soon in a corner of the athletic field just east of town. There are three things we hope will happen. We hope the tower will advertise the name of our town, we hope it will have a warning red light on top, and we hope it will be filled with good quality water.

Anita Schlehuber and Sharon Youk entertained with a slumber party at the Schlehuber home Friday evening honoring the birthdays of Sharon Nelson and Jeannine Skibbe. Others present were Mary Melton, Jean Morse, Cheryl Caselman, Karen Higgins, Helen Olsen, Ruth Lais, Betty Tipton, Kay Amick, Edith Jewett, and Donna Newsom.

Births announced this week in the “Look Who’s Here” column include a daughter, not yet named, who was born July 26 to Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hett of Marion, and Brenda Jo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erano Albright of Lincolnville, born July 20.

Diana Goertz will represent Marion County at a citizenship short course at the National 4-H Center in Washington, D.C. from July 30 to Aug. 4.

Henry Loveless of Marion and Lyle Wood of Marceline, Mo., shared honors in the Great Western Handicap Championship Trapshoot held Sunday at the Wichita Gun Club. Both broke 98 targets out of 100 in the championship round.
