Marilyn Belton of Lost Springs, 1962 Marion County Fair Queen, joined about 45 other local models last Friday and Saturday evening in a style show of fashions at Van’s A.R.M. store in Marion. The show was held in the windows of Van’s and featured school and sport clothes for children and women, as well as dress-up dresses, suits, and coats.

A picnic was held at Memorial Park in Hillsboro Sunday noon honoring two couples, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hett of Marion and Mr. and Mrs. Reno Penner of Hillsboro, who were married recently.

John Summervill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Summervill, has accepted a teaching position in the 7th and 8th grades at the Strong City Grade School. He will assume his duties in September.

Carol Conyers and Warren Vogel, both of Marion, were married Aug. 26 in the Marion Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Rita Jost was guest of honor at a party Aug. 29 honoring her 12th birthday. The following girls enjoyed an afternoon of horseback riding and swimming: Shelley Hett, Jeannie Keazer, Kathy Perkins, Becky Coe, Linda Helmer, Susan Yeagley, Madeline Thompson, and Jill Kline.

Funeral services were held at Thompson Funeral Home Saturday afternoon for Dorothy Shahan, who died early Monday morning. Miss Shahan had been employed the last 20 years as clerk and secretary in the Marion County Engineer’s office.
