Marion County got surprisingly quick response to its request for Salk polio serum this week. One hundred vials of the anti-polio vaccine arrived by airmail Tuesday. Clinics are planned with further details to be furnished as soon as they are available.
Births announced in this issue include Carol Renee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward W. Colburn of Santa Barbara, Calif., born July 21; and Betty Jo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Garrard of Antelope, who arrived July 29.
Harvey Kruse, prominent farmer of northwest of Marion, was named last week to be manager for the newly formed Marion Cooperative Association.
Miss Sue Haislip entertained with a tea Wednesday evening for her wedding receptionists. Invited guests were Patsy Slusser, Donna Kelsey, Beverly Bredemeier, Marilyn Loveless, and Sonja Sanders.
A reception and social evening was held Sunday night at the Marion Christian Church honoring Miss Maude Thompson who has served as church school superintendent for 17 years.
