The Marion County Jail has seen its share of strange sights, but this week included one not yet on the books — a snake. The pet bull snake, about two feet long, was brought in wrapped around the waist of a man charged with being drunk in a public place.

The student body of Marion High School turned out at the polls Tuesday for a general election on Student Government Day. The Individualist party took the majority of offices. Victorious candidates were Wayne Ewert, Mary Konarik, Donna Hanschu, Chris Hauser, Pam Domke, Maurice Williams. Max Jackson, Judy Broadstreet, Virginia Tajchman, Tom Tucker, Shirley Bredemeier, JoAnn Stroda, Tina Holmes, Connie Warneke, Max Miller, and Cheryl Schimpf.

The Wichita Eagle this week named Keith Just to the all area football first team. The mythical football squad is selected each year. They also named Ron Kelsey to the honorable mention team.

Roger Bennett entertained six of his classmates Nov. 13 to celebrate his 11th birthday. Those present were Chuck McElwain, Terry Plenert, Craig Smith, Tommy Thomas, Roger Jackson, and Lance Alexander.

Babies born this week at St. Luke Hospital include Robert Charles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vinduska of Marion, Royden Kent, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Albrecht of Lincolnville, Vickie Frances, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Moore of Florence, and Mitchell Blaine, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Johnson, Marion.
