Keith Just, outstanding Marion High School senior football player, was awarded one of the most valued scholarships in the Midwest this week—a full, four-year scholarship to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Ark.

Young Tommy Thomas, 11, got a real thrill Sunday when he came upon a good-sized coyote on his grandfather’s farm when allowed to hunt for the first time. Tommy took aim with his .38 automatic and caught the coyote dead center between the eyes.

A birthday party was held Tuesday afternoon at the John Brose home honoring Lisa on her 6th birthday. The following girls enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon: Angie Krause, Teresa Costello, Mariann Elling, Annie Higgins, Susie Reznicek, and Laurie Brose.

Local actors selected to play parts in the PTA play, Thornton Wilder’s “The Matchmaker,” are Bruce Sloan, David Wheeler, Emma Carr, Evelyn Cook, Bernadine Westerhaus, Joan Meyer, Bob Edmunds, Conrad Steinel, Selma Maybell, Naomi Childs, Fred Allen, Ray Vinduska, Maxine Bell, and David Robinson.

An old familiar landmark at Durham was torn down during the past week. Built in 1902, the building was first used as a livery stable. The final owner was George Yauk, who operated an International Harvester implement and repair shop.
