County commissioners last week approved plans to go ahead with replacing “Dead Man’s Bridge” south of Marion with a 16-foot new style corrugated metal bolted plate culvert.

February has come and gone with a record of being as dry a month as possible with no recorded rainfall. A most welcome rain, totaling up to a reported three inches and more in some place fell Monday night and Tuesday.

Mrs. Bill Caselman has accepted the position of Marion City Librarian.

Mrs. Gerald D. Kline and her infant son, Kimberly Dean, were honored guests at a layette shower March 3 at the home of Mrs. Leroy Winters.

Mary Margaret Teter, a high school student from Burns, won the $150 prize at the state beef cook-off contest at Manhattan Saturday with a dish entitled “Old Time Beef Stew.”

Mr. and Mrs. Willard Conyers were honored March 3 with an open house at their home honoring their 25th wedding anniversary.

Members of Marion Kiwanis Club toured the old telephone office Monday, and when the new one is finished, will take a tour of that facility and make a comparison. Larry Boese was introduced to the club as the Junior Kiwanian for the month of March.
