The Marion swimming pool opened on a chilly Memorial Day with 65 swimmers in attendance. The pool is being managed by Kenneth C. Hartman. Lifeguards are Donna Jost and John Hoover. Helping in the basket room are JoAnn Magee and Judy Pankratz with some assistance from Shirley Bredemeier.

Mrs. Edwin G. Westerhaus presented the following students in a piano recital June 2: Patti Vinduska, Laura Brose, Marcia Steinel, Janet Lawrence, Terry Plenert, Bryce Ollenberger, Gary Melcher, Marian Lawrence, Jackie Thomas, Kathleen Westerhaus, Patty Sue Plenert, and Mary Westerhaus.

Members of the Lincolnville High School Class of 1930 held a class reunion Saturday evening at Kingfisher’s Inn. Dr. Otto Tiemeier of Manhattan was toastmaster.

Mrs. Viola Jost, Marion County Superintendent, was elected vice president of the Kansas Association of County Superintendents this week at the organization’s annual meeting in Topeka.

John F. Mailen of Marion received $100 in this week’s Cash Days drawing. Laddie Helmer, Marion, missed $20, Mrs. Lyle Sanders, Marion, received $15, Mrs. Harry R. Kline, Kansas City, missed $5, and Raymond Alder, Florence missed $5.

Laura Jane Bredemeier arrived home Sunday to spend two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Bredemeier. She will go to Brownwood Camp on Lake Champlain, Vermont, for the summer where she will be water skiing instructor and camp nurse.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jirak of Marion announce the birth of a son, Kevin Lee, June 4 at St. Luke Hospital.
