A novel feature of this year’s Old Settlers’ Day afternoon program in the park will be the repeat performance of “A Modern Mother Goose” by home-talent players. Theme of the program is centered around modern musical renditions of well-know Mother Goose stories. The show brought down the house last week at the annual Community Guild banquet.

A break-in and robbery occurred sometime Tuesday night in Marion. The office of Dr. R.R. Melton was entered and narcotics were taken. Nothing else was disturbed, it is reported.

Mrs. Wilma Ewert is among 30 Kansas teachers enrolled in the National Science Foundation Institute of Mathematics for Elementary Teachers being offered on Saturdays at Kansas State University this semester. Mrs. Ewert teaches at Bown Corby Elementary School in Marion.

A 60-year-old map for the Grapes School District is printed in this issue. The hand-drawn map of the far eastern section of Grant Township was drawn by William Knode of Herington, who was a student in the school at that time.

Two students from Marion have enrolled as freshmen at Baker University at Baldwin. They are Rose Marie Loveless, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Loveless, and Jeannine Ann Skibbe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest E. Skibbe.
