The new Evangelical United Brethren Church will be dedicated in a special service this Sunday. The church’s bishop, three conference superintendents, and a minister from Newton will be here to take important parts with the minister, the Rev. G. Carol Gilbert, in conducting the services.

Dr. J.W. DeMand, 77, for almost 50 years a practicing physician in the Lincolnville and surrounding area, died Saturday after a short illness.

Two Marion families suddenly woke up to the fact this week that they both were 100 percent Scout families. Children involved are Cadette Girl Scouts Tamara Case and Susan Marler, Cub Scouts Brad Case and Doug Marler, and Brownie Scouts Teresa Case, and Sandy Marler. Mr. and Mrs. Rosse Case and Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Marler are parents of the Scouts. To complete the picture — both mothers have been very active in the Scout activities in Marion.

A radiological monitoring class was held Nov. 9, sponsored by the Marion County Civil Defense unit. Trained monitors are required to furnish information on the radiological hazard from fallout. Those who completed the course were James Meisner, Harold Ewert, Anthony Schafers, Sister Mary Maurice, Dean Ollenburger, Richard Heaton, Wharton Hoch, Ronald Herbel, Pearlie Kuhn, Bill Meyer, Harold Bell, and John Waner.
