Memorial services were held Monday morning and, at noon in Marion, businesses were closed and draped flags flew at half-mast in honor of the late President John F. Kennedy who was assassinated Friday in Dallas.

Marion County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Services elected their county committee for the coming year Tuesday morning. Those named were Edmund Steiner, Lincolnville, chairman; Werner Mueller, Tampa, vice chairman; and Larry Jost, Marion, regular member.

The 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kaiser of Lincolnville was celebrated Nov. 24 at a turkey dinner at Kingfisher’s Inn.

New crossing lights at the Rock Island Railway crossing at Aulne are in operation this week — a much needed safety improvement.

Nancy Lou Vinduska, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mathias J. Vinduska, Lincolnville, has been elected treasurer of the senior class of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Wichita. Miss Vinduska will complete the three-year professional program in nursing in September.

The equipment and the building of the Canada band will be auctioned to the highest bidder Dec. 7. Many benches, chairs, stoves, counters, blackboard, tin cups, stage scenery, and the building itself will be offered at auction.
