Marion’s first opening of the Christmas season was held last Friday night. Winners of the children’s awards were Teresa Case, Barbie Dream House; Sandra Wall, Barbie Sports Car; Jeff Kline, bazooka gun set; and Leslie Lunderman, basketball and goal set. The “mystery prize” for children was unveiled, and proved to be highly popular. It is a four-year-old pony, half Shetland and half Quarter Horse, complete with saddle and bridle.
Births announced in this issue are: Gary Neil, son of Mr and Mrs. Edwin J. Tajchman of Denver, Colo.; Craig Verlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Verlin Meier of Odessa, Texas; and David Wayne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Silhan of Marion.
Helen Huelskamp and Robert Spachek were united in marriage Nov. 23 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fowler. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Huelskamp of Fowler and Mr. and Mrs. John Spachek of Lincolnville are parents of the couple.
Electrician’s Mate Jerry Loveless, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Loveless, arrived home Thursday for a leave en route to a new base. Jerry has been attending the Navy’s Groton Submarine School at New London, Conn. He is being transferred to San Diego, Calif.
Farmers Cooperative Association has just completed a new addition to their facilities here — it is a 30’x50’ building for fertilizer storage. Builders of the building were Milt Schlotthauer and Dave Helmer.
