A new residential sub-division to the city of Marion was accepted and filed with the register of deeds this week. It is called “Tanglewood Addition” and is located in the southeast part of the city, with an extension of Nickerson Street running east and west through the center.

Friday the 13th will be a lucky day in Marion, at least for 15 families. For 15 nice big turkeys are to be given away free tomorrow night on Marion’s Main Street.

Virginia Dody, bride-elect of David Bernhardt, was guest of honor at a bridal shower Dec. 8 in the Fellowship Hall of the Marion Methodist Church

Ron Oelschlager, Marion’s football star at the University of Kansas, was honored this week with selection to a berth on the 1963 Big Eight All-Academic 11. This is the second year in a row he has earned this coveted honor.

George Jackson led Marion Tuesday night when the Marion Warriors basketball team defeated Peabody on the local hardwoods. Jackson led Marion with 19 of 45 points. He was followed by Hamlin with 9, Max Jackson 7, Hauser 5, Bass 4, and Frans 1.

A daughter, Penny Renee, arrived Dec. 11 at Newman Hospital in Emporia to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Don Burkholder of Emporia. Penny has a sister, Jacqueline, and a brother, Jerry Lee.
