A-I Café has opened in Marion in the former location of the Metzler Café at Main and Freeborn on the hill. Operated by Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Hoffner, the café features hamburgers, short orders, and five-cent coffee.

Marion High School will send a one-act play and several individual speech members to the annual Cottonwood Valley Speech and Drama Festival to be held Monday at Peabody. The play “Balcony Scene” is one of four scheduled in the evening. Readings will be given by Tina Holmes, Judy Broadstreet, Diane Nickel, and LaVonda Hett. Poetry interpretations will be given by Connie Jost.

Mrs. Gail Merrill, Mrs. Wayne Colle, Mrs. Wayne Varenhorst, and Mrs. Dean Batt modeled Mrs. Merrill’s collection of hats of the early 1900s at Coterie Club’s guest night Monday evening at the Presbyterian Church. Guests for the evening were members of Hillsboro’s Mentor Study Club.

Anita Schlehuber has been named warden of Southwestern College’s newly organized chapter of national music sorority, Mu Phi Epsilon.

Mr. and Mrs. Mark L. Gardner announce the engagement of their daughter, Marjorie Lois, to Mickey W. Summervill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Summervill of Marion. A June wedding is planned.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Wiens of Marion are the proud parents of twin daughters, Loraine Fae and Loreen Kae, born Feb. 28 at St. Luke Hospital.
