Unless all the county’s wheat handlers are mistaken, this year’s harvest is going to be the largest and best in the history of Marion County, at least from the standpoint of quality wheat and total bushels received.

Ray Vinduska, Marion’s present assistant postmaster, is slated to take over the post of retiring postmaster, Paul Shahan, and will technically be acting postmaster until formally appointed later.

Janet Patton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Bruce Patton of Riverton, and Richard Meisinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Menno Meisinger of Marion, were married June 13 in the First Presbyterian Church, Riverton.

Mrs. Melvin Whiteman entertained with a party in the Marion park June 17 in honor of the birthday of her son, Gail. Those present were Barry Seifert, Randall Mott, Kenny Lundgren, Jack Loomis, Jeffrey Longhofer, Gary Hill, Gary Friesen, Chris Costello, Mike Colgin, Richard Britain, and Darrell Ehrlich.

Mrs. Gerald Kelsey was guest of honor Friday evening at a layette shower at the Jim Smith home. Hostesses were Mrs. Smith and Miss Linda Youk. Hostesses at a layette shower for Mrs. Tom Shirley Saturday evening at the Marion City building were Mrs. Charles Bredemeier Jr., Mrs. Stanley Anderson, Mrs. Bill Burkholder and Mrs. Roland Vogel.
