The 1964 Homecoming Queen will be crowned during the halftime of Friday’s game with Centre. Candidates for the honor are Becky Berry, Connie Jost, and Neva Kelsey. The 1963 Homecoming Queen, Mary Konarik, will take part in the ceremony.

Bruce Taylor celebrated his seventh birthday Saturday afternoon with a party and wiener roast. Guests present were Jerry and Scott Conyers, Greg Carlson, John Bauman, Danny Howell, Dennis Schroeder, Mike Klose, Jay Schwendiman, Jim Bredemeier, Alfred Seibel, Ronnie Weber, Brad Heerey and Bruce’s little brother, Bryan.

The annual Farm-City stag banquet and program will be held Nov. 5 at the Marion City Building, under the sponsorship of the Marion Chamber of Commerce. Entertainment will be provided by “Red Barn Theatre Players,” an all-male cast of Marion businessmen.

Kathy Klein, bride-elect of Bill Goentzel, was guest of honor at a bridal shower Oct. 15 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Hostesses were Mrs. Roy Highsmith, Mrs. Henry Klose, Mrs. Sam Keller, Mrs. O.W. Emrich and Mrs. Clarence Janzen.

The Marion public schools are 100 years old, having been formed the same year the county was organized in 1864. However, School District No. 1 will not live much longer as petitions were filed recently for the area to become a unified district.
