W.K. (Bill) Holmes, manager of the Marion Duckwall Variety Store, and one of the city’s most active young businessmen, was elected president of the Marion Chamber of Commerce for 1965 at their annual election meeting last Friday noon.

The annual New Year’s Day “wolf hunt” will be held again this year on January 1 at Youngtown.

A black and white pony named “King” was the first prize this year given by the Marion Chamber of Commerce in their annual drawings for children of the area. The happy new owner is Donna Douglas, 10-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Douglas of Marion.

Barbara Helmer and Jerry Bessel, both of Marion, were united in marriage Dec. 6 in the Marion Evangelical United Brethren Church.

All persons who had their names drawn in the Tuesday evening “Christmas bonus” cash event were present to claim their awards. Oliver Tharp won $50, Fred Suffield $5, Mrs. Cecil McLinden $5, Verna Propp $5, and Mrs. Robert Meier $5.

A son, Mitchell Wayne, was born December 19 to Mr. and Mrs. Gary L. Carlson of Marion. The Carlsons have three other children: Greg 7, Cindy 4, and Brad 2.

Bernadeen Broadstreet of Marion and Alvin Wayne Winter of Lincolnville were married December 12 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Marion.
