Jackson’s Clothing Store officially opens in its new location this Saturday, January 2. The new location is directly across Main Street from its former location. The Jacksons have bought and completely renovated the building at the corner of Third and Main streets.

The “game of the week” was seen right here in Marion over the Christmas holiday when a wide array of top sports talent put on an exhibition touch football game on the lawn of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Christensen. Players and their schools included Lowell Ensey, Westmar College, Iowa; Ron Oelschlager and Jim Christensen, University of Kansas; John Christensen, Kansas State; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gilbert, Colorado State; Maurice Just, Nebraska Wesleyan, Capt. Woody Martin, West Point; Lou Wheeler, Oklahoma State, and Karlet Kight, Texas Tech.

First place winner in the Record’s gift subscription contest was Joe G. Tajchman of Lincolnville. The prize chosen was an electric typewriter.

Another step toward school unification was taken Monday when patrons of the Durham community schools voted in favor of joining Hillsboro.

Winners in the home decoration contest for outdoor lighting were announced this week by the Chamber of Commerce. First prize of $10 went to Stanley Anderson; second prize, $7.50, to Wilbur Razor; and third prize, $5, to Glen Kline.
