Marion High School students are going to publish their own newspaper, MHS Smoke Signals, beginning with the January issue. The two-page paper will be printed by the Marion County Record. It will be compiled by a staff of 18 students ranging from freshmen to seniors. Editor-in-chief is Dennis Hett, a senior. Cheri Bell, a junior, serves as assistant editor.
Marion city workers Ernest Meierhoff, Victor Winter, and Ralph Mathews were busy the first part of the week installing new street signs in town. The signs were paid for by the Mari-Makers Home Demonstration Unit and donated to the city. They have been erected on the southwest corner of each intersection south of Main St. and on the northeast corner of each intersection north of Main.
New member were added to the M Club at Marion High School this week when football letters were awarded. Those who received letters were Bryan Alexander, Norman Bowers, Chuck Bredemeier, Francis Breech, Dennis Conyers, Bob Elling, Larry Ensey, Dale Fowler, Bob Good, Bob Hoch, George Jackson, Gilbert Johnson, Dick Maggard, Ed Parrack, Blair Post, Gene Schimpf, Ladd Siebert, Lonnie Stage, Richard Winter, Dennis Swanson, Mike Wood, and Lester Harlan.
