Regulars like Carl Sheldon and Nodie Baker was on the front row of the Marion Rube Band marching this year in the Old Settlers parade. Mr. Baker has been playing the tuba in the band for about 80 years. Mr. Sheldon, who lives in Wichita, is a former player in a circus band, and has been a Rube Band regular for decades. He plays the slide trombone.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Dale of Florence announce the engagement of their daughter, Shirley Jo, to John (Rocky) Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Hett of Marion. The wedding will take place Nov. 7.

Alfred Swann, owner of Swann Sundry and Prescription Shop, has announced plans to rebuild his store. He has purchased the lots, at the southeast corner of Fourth and Main, from Dean Batt. The lot formerly housed Gound Used Car location.

Stan Kenton, internationally famous bandleader, is pictured as he visited with Steve Heinz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Heinz, in Wichita. Steve, who plays trumpet in the Marion High School band, recently attended a performance in Wichita where the Kenton band was playing and was invited to spend time with the band and its leader.

Dr. E.K. Schroeder has purchased property on East Main from Ed Navrat, and will construct a modern office building there for his dental practice.
