Steve Stayton, who recently returned from combat duty with the Seabees in Viet Nam, was the featured speaker Monday noon at the regular meeting of Marion Kiwanis Club. He showed many colorful slides of that area.

Four new highway signs were installed last week by the State Highway Department on the main roads leading to Marion County Park and Lake. Floyd Walker, highway district supervisor for this area, requested the signs and is pictured with the crew, Robert Raleigh, Jim Magathan, and Eldon Beneke, as they install them.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Nelson of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Patricia, to Dean Bina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bina of Marion. The couple has set their wedding date for April 23.

Gary Thompson, head basketball coach at Wichita State University, will be the speaker at the Kiwanis-sponsored athletic banquet March 15.

Ronald G. Kelsey, Marion, Navy recruit son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Kelsey, was voted “most outstanding recruit” of his company while in basic training at San Diego. Now in the Philippines, awaiting transfer to Japan, he was voted in January as “Man of the Month” on his ship, the USS Sproston.

Mary Evans, Marion, received $150 in this week’s Cash Day drawing.
