The City Commission this week is asking the public for cooperation at the City Dump, or “sanitary landfill,” in that more orderly dumping and neatness can be carried out. Many people have been dumping their debris in the roadways at the dump, and others have not been too careful about letting things fall off into the streets on the way to the dump.

Sixteen students from Marion joined 700 Kansas students Wednesday on an Easter vacation tour to Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York City. Those on the trip are Bryan Alexander, Chuck Bredemeier, Mary Christensen, Kris Conyers, Pat Costello, Robert Elling, Robert Good, LaVonda Hett, George Jackson, Darold Longhofer, James Magee, Rod Oelschlager, Judy Pankratz, John Sandwell, Wallace Slusser, and Jan Varenhorst.

The Chamber of Commerce is in the process of beautifying the park near the swimming pool. Fifteen trees have been planted and four more are to be planted in the near future.

Marion Elementary students will present the 3-act musical play, “Alice in Wonderland” April 15 at Marion City Auditorium. Alice will portrayed by Marilee McGinness with other main characters played by Steve Warkentine, Diane Weber, and Mike Edmunds.

At their meeting Monday evening, the school board discussed at length the possibility of building permanent stadium facilities at the football field with dressing rooms and rest rooms.
