Sign painter Ted Cash was busy this week with one of the details involved in changing Marion School District No. 1 into Marion Unified School District N. 408 on the school buses.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Newton announce this week that they have sold their West Side Camp and Grocery Store to Mr. and Mrs. Jean H. Baczkowski. The new owners, who came from Belgium nine years ago, will take over management this Friday.

Fifteen talented and attractive Marion County girls are entered as contestants for the title of Marion County Fair Queen. Eight of the young ladies, pictured on the front page, are Mary Konarik, Susan Kay Lentz, Judy Pankratz, Roxanne Zerger, Anita Marie Rudolph, Kristine Schubert, Sheryl Becker, and Sharon Rediger.

Mike, Don, and Jim Bredemeier will leave Friday morning for Fort Worth, Texas, where their aunt, Laura Jane Bredemeier, will meet them. From there they will go to Camp Wolters, Mineral Wells, where Laura Jane is stationed.

Marion area readers of Sears and Roebuck and Montgomery Ward catalogs, McCall’s Needlecraft publications, and other similarly printed matter will soon be seeing a familiar face and figure on their fashion pages. LaVonda Hett, Marion High School graduate, will be one of the featured models for the photo illustrations in the catalogs for next spring and summer.
