Rendel Newsom is making an attempt to see if there is enough interest to charter a bus to take a load to see the Kansas City Chiefs play the San Diego team.

A most important feature of every Old Settlers’ parade is the many bands sprinkled throughout the length of the parade. This year some 700 musicians took part, in the more than a dozen bands. Pictured is the famous Rube Band. Members of the band this year were 92-year-old Nodie Baker, Bill Meyer, Tom Good, Bob Hoch, Jean Pierce, Bud Pierce, Wilbur Rindt, Rosse Case, Bud Hannaford, Fred Allen, Lucille Britain, Bob Reinke, Betty Tipton, and Sue Harris.

Girl Scout Troop 59 met Oct. 4 in the fellowship hall of the Presbyterian Church. Jo Marie Mueller and Sue Woerz were elected patrol leaders with Teresa Case and Dottie Lentz as assistants. Kathy McCoy was elected troop treasurer and Sandra Cox as troop nurse.

A development of special interest to Peabody, but of real importance to the county as a whole as well, is the news that the Full Vision Corporation of Newton has purchased the former Paramount Building in Peabody and will begin operations there immediately. The Full Vision Company manufactures cabs for tractors and combines and their rapidly expanding business has outgrown their plant in Newton.
