K-State Singers made a hit with some 400 Marion County men Monday night at the Marion City Building when they provided a full hour program in song and dance at the annual Farm-City Banquet.

Bids on the proposed new athletic stadium for the Marion school system were opened Tuesday afternoon and all were rejected. The project was estimated at $82,000. Six bids on the project ranged from $124,000 to $160,000. It is hoped that use of alternates will allow the project to come within the estimate.

Marion placed two men on the mythical Cottonwood Valley League all-star football team. They were Lester Harlan, outstanding Warrior lineman, and scrappy Myron Frans, who sparked several Marion victories from his spot in the line. Dennis Knoblock was the leading touchdown scorer in the league and was named to the honorable mention squad. Marion’s sophomore back, Gary Melcher, was fifth in the league in passing and eighth in scoring.

Members of Marion Kiwanis Club enjoyed an unusual program in the banquet room of the Owl Car Café Nov. 14 when Conrad Steinel demonstrated his ham radio equipment.

Another training school for radiological (atomic fallout) identification and measurement will be held at the Golden Years Center in Hillsboro next Thursday, says C.P. Ashcraft, county Civil Defense director.
