A focal point of countywide interest is the steady progress being made on all of the various phases of the construction work at Marion Dam and Reservoir being built on the Cottonwood River under the supervision of the U.S. Corps of Army Engineers.

Announcement is made this week by Mr. and Mrs. Walter Oelschlager, owners of Oelschlager Furniture and Appliance, that they have purchased the building where their store is located and will start a remodeling and expansion program. The Oelschlagers purchased the building from the Schmersey estate.

Jan Varenhorst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Varenhorst and senior at Marion High School, was crowned queen of the Court at the Warriors Homecoming Friday evening. A halftime ceremony, by candlelight, preceded the crowning of the queen. The Remington Broncos ruined Marion’s homecoming, however, by defeating the Warriors 60-49.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Soyez are very pleased to have their three sons, Harold, Richard D. and Robert, all stationed at the same base and in the same squadron. Harold has been stationed at Oceana, Virginia Beach, Virginia, for some time. He was joined by Richy a few months ago and Bobby was assigned there just last week.
