County Engineer James F. Meisner announced this week that approval has been granted by both federal and state bureaus of roads to replace the “Red Bridge” or “Ehrlich Bridge” which spans Clear Creek just north of Marion on the Cedar Street road. Replacing of the bridge is part of a safety program by the federal government.

Mrs. Ralph Richmond entertained with a party after school Thursday in honor of Randy’s sixth birthday. Boys invited were Jimmy Rigler, Dennis Kelsey, Casey Case, Rick and Dave Richmond, Tommy Ollenberger and Barry Allen.

All students in Marion County are invited to participate in the fourth annual Santa Fe Railroad student education tour to Six Flags Over Texas, between Dallas and Forth Worth, May 5 through 7.

Boys from Marion’s Cub Scout Pack 102 are celebrating Cub Scout Week. Representative Cubs from the four Marion dens are pictured, in uniform, standing in front of windows they decorated at Marion National Bank. Cubs include Jim Bredemeier of den one; Ricki Walker, den two; Bruce Taylor, den three; and Mike Classen, den four.

Cathy Palmer, Marion High School’s winner in the Betty Crocker search for the American Homemaker of Tomorrow has received further honor of being selected as one of the 10 highest-ranking girls in Kansas. Cathy is a member of Marion’s 1967 senior class.
