Five young Methodists from Marion will be among 40 from the area that will enjoy a Kansas Bike Trip from July 10 to 15. The ride begins at Camp Mary Dell near Abilene and concludes at Tuttle Creek. Riders from Marion will be Ginger Helmer, Dick Wiebe, Brenda Foth, Pam Griffith, and Sandra Anderson.

The community this week welcomes Dean Pippin and he, in turn, welcomes the public to his I.G.A. store, formerly operated by K.C. Wingerd.

Rebecca Elizabeth Berry and John R. Summerville were united in marriage July 1 in the Valley Center Methodist Church. Rev. M. Miles Henry of the Marion Methodist Church officiated at the double ring ceremony.

Marion Fire Department responded with dispatch Monday afternoon and doused a fire that was belching smoke from the rooftop of the LeRoy Hoffman home at the corner of Santa Fe and Second streets in Marion. Hoffman, himself a volunteer fireman, was not at home at the time. His fellow firemen, however, had the situation well in hand.
