Completion of the dam and recreational facilities at the Marion Reservoir is expected approximately one year from now, according to Richard Palmer, project engineer.

The Marion County Fair Queen to be named tonight will be a Marion girl. That’s for certain, as all three of the candidates named Friday as finalists are from Marion. They are Helen Jackson, Barbara Christensen, and Roxanne Zerger. Last year’s queen, Judy Pankratz, also is a Marion girl. And, Helen Jackson has been picked as Miss Congeniality.

Cub Scouts of Den 4 presented an American flag and pole set to Spain Guest Home Saturday afternoon. The boys earned the money for the project by collecting 4,944 Pepsi bottle caps and redeeming them for cash. Members of Den 4 are Brook Beaston, Greg Carlson, Mike Classen, David Colburn, Dart Henry, Jim Koslowsky, and Tim Zerger.

Pat Warneke, bride-elect of Carl Elling Jr., was honored with a bridal shower Sunday afternoon in the basement of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Further plans were made at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill DuVall Monday evening for a reunion of the 1927 graduating class of Marion High School.

Barbara Christensen, daughter of Mayor and Mrs. Lynn Christensen of Marion, has been selected to serve as a resident assistant for the coming year at Kansas State University. Resident assistants act as advisers to underclasswomen at KSU.
