J.D. “Jim” Ferrell will again be the Old Settlers Day “Parade Marshal,” Saturday leading the parade on one of his famed paint stallions, “County Squire.” Jim, who operates a large ranch in the northeast corner of the county, breeds and raises paint and quarter horses.

Miss Mary Ann Krotz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Krotz of Durham, and Paul A. Tajchman, son of Paul M. Tajchman of Lincolnville, exchanged wedding vows at St. John Nep. Church in Pilsen Sept. 7.

Marion National Bank now has a fine new “time and temperature” clock on the front of their remodeled building. They also have a new burglar alarm. When the alarm got a short and sounded off early Monday morning, many town wags pestered the bank un- mercifully telling them that their alarm clock had gone off.

Two winners in this week’s Cash Days drawing were Mrs. Pete Pankratz of Marion who received $5 and Alice McKibben of Marion, who won $15. Wayne Hett, Marion, missed $200; Margaret Hett, Marion, missed $15; and Pete Rudolph, Marion, misses $10.

Forrest Hintz, staff writer for the Wichita Eagle, will tell of his experiences as a reporter covering the activities of Kansas servicemen in Viet Nam, at the Oct. 11 combined meeting of the Masons and members of the Eastern Star.
