The last payment on the bond issue to finance the Marion Municipal Swimming Pool has been made. As of Nov. 1, the total $85,000 bond issue will be retired.

Length of service awards were presented to three employees of St. Luke Hospital Oct. 17 at a dinner in their honor. Maude Firebaugh received a 15-year pin and Grace Richmond and Peggy Conant each received 10-year award pins from Sister Mary Magdalen, administrator of the hospital.

Tim Zerger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Zerger of Marion, placed first in the nine-year-old section of the zone competition of the Ford Motor Company “Punt, Pass, and Kick” contest held in Salina last Saturday. He now is eligible to participate in the district competition in Kansas City.

Mary Schubert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schubert of Ramona, was crowned 1967 Centre High School homecoming queen during halftime ceremonies of the Marion-Centre game there last Friday evening. She was escorted by John Fenske, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Fenske of Lost Springs.

A Halloween birthday party and scavenger hunt was held Monday night in honor of Teresa Case’s 12th birthday. The following girls attended: Debbi Link, Dottie Lentz, Becky Wood, Cathy Newlin, Karen Pankratz, Lisa Holmes, Jeannie Widler, Mary Endres, Janet Stika, Jo Marie Mueller, Sue Woerz, Debbie Heidel, Susie Lundgren, and Kathy McCoy.
