Bids for a new Municipal Power plant building were opened Monday afternoon at the Marion City Commission meeting. No action was taken in order to have time to get financial advice.
Santa Claus pleased a throng of children in Marion Saturday afternoon when he came into town on a bright red fire engine and passed out sacked treats to all boys and girls in front of the fire station.
Members of Marion Kiwanis Club were entertained in the festive spirit of the season Monday noon when Ken Forsyth’s talented “Swing Singers” presented a program of popular Christmas music. Members of the Peabody Kiwanis Club also were in attendance for an inter-club meeting.
Santa won’t have to wax sled runners for his trip Sunday night, the eight inch accumulation of snow that fell in Marion Thursday morning will help speed him on his way. Thursday’s snow was the first of the season of any accumulation.
Cadette Girl Scouts of Troop 62 entertained at Spain Guest Home in Marion with a program entitled “No-Ella.” Scouts participating included Dot Lentz, Debbie Heidel, Teresa Case, Kathy McCoy, Karen Pankratz, Kathy Newlin, Becky Wood, Lisa Holmes, Jo Marie Mueller, Jeannie Widler, and Debby Link.
Many homes and commercial buildings with lights look especially beautiful under the blanket of snow. The snow followed a warm and mild fall and winter to come just in time for Christmas.
