C. C. Brooker, former mayor of Marion will be the featured speaker at the Friday afternoon program on Old Settlers’ Day. Jay E. Hargett will be master of ceremonies and will be assisted by County Attorney Roger Morse.

Heavy rainfall over the north of Marion County early Monday morning put streams in that area over their banks. The clouds that hung over the area dumped 5 inches at Ramona, 4.6 inches at Lincolnville, 2.69 inches in Durham, and 2.20 in the Youngtown area.

Edwin M. Wheeler, son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wheeler of Marion, has been appointed an attorney for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, with headquarters in Topeka.

Vaclav J. Bosh, a lifelong musician died Sept. 12. Mr. Bosh, who is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, taught music all his life. He was leader of the Bosh Band up until a few years ago.
