Kingfisher’s Inn, the popular Marion County Lake eating-place operated by Mr. and Mrs. George King, has again received national recognition in the new 1959 edition of “Duncan Hines Adventures in Good Eating” just off the press.

The first baby of the New Year to be born at St. Luke Hospital arrived at 2:37 a.m. Jan. 1. She is Anita Kay Druse, daughter of Staff Sergeant and Mrs. Bob Druse, stationed until this week at Carswell AFB.

The Burns State Bank, a grocery store, and a clothing store were seriously damaged Saturday night when fire of undetermined origin swept through the building in which they were located.

Elizabeth and Jess Coons have opened their attractive new restaurant in Marion this week. It is located in the dining room at the Elgin Hotel. The entire facility has been redecorated with emphasis on the Western theme. A special dining room has been provided for organization and private dinner parties.

The Kaw Theatre this week announces that a new policy has been put into effect. Until further notice, one program only will be shown each week, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

All the children at Bown Corby School were happy about the snow and wintertime fun again this year. One of the highlights has been the sleigh rides provided for them by Leslie Broadstreet.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Holub entertained with a steak dinner Tuesday evening at the Elgin Hotel dining room in celebration of Henry’s birthday. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Albert Klenda, Mr. and Mrs. Al Bosh, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Yeagley, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Klenda, and Mr. and Mrs. Holub.
