Progress on the plans for a new farmers’ cooperative grain elevator in Marion are moving along well, according to steering committee members. The drive for producer memberships and investor participants is beginning in earnest this week.

Treacherously slick roads at times during the past week have been responsible for several accidents in Marion County. Two injuries, not serious, were sustained, but considerable damage was done.

Members of Neo Century Club and their husbands will meet for dinner Saturday evening at the Hickory House in Wichita prior to going to television station KAKE where they will be guests for the evening’s broadcast.

Among the births at St. Luke Hospital this week were the following: Kelly Rene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Post, Feb. 8; Marc Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Forest Smith, Feb. 9; Linda Estelle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bowers Jr., Feb. 10; Rodney Ralph, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Richmond, Feb. 11; and a daughter (not named at press time) of Mr. and Mrs. Valerian Bezdek, Feb. 12.

Marion High School Warriors lead the CVL basketball league with an 11-1 record. In fact, the Warriors have won the league championship again this year. Even if they should lose both remaining games, they have won the league since no other team has lost less than four games so far.
