A group of 15 persons, representative of the entire county, gathered in the courtroom of the courthouse Wednesday night to discuss plans for a 24-hour radio dispatching service.

Martin Klenda, well-known Marion County farmer, is one of the 10 outstanding Kansas farmers who were named “Leaders of the Year” by the Kansas Farm Bureau. He will leave March 19 for Washington, D.C., on a trip as part of this recognition.

Mrs. Kathryn Swann and Miss Dorothy Pollitt left Thursday morning for a short trip to Natchez, Miss., to see the flower gardens and old homes, which are open to the public during this time of the year.

Marion Community Athletic Association will sponsor a meeting Tuesday night to start a boating, skiing, and water safety organization. The meeting will be held in the recreation hall at the Marion County Lake at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Judy Sturgis was crowned Queen of Courts at Centre High School Feb. 17. She was escorted by Bob Spachek and crowned by Captain Irvin Brunner. The queen’s attendants were Madeline Riffel, Janice Jirak, and Connie Sturgis. Merle Ecklund, Gaylord Brunner, and Bert Rehder were the attendants’ escorts.
