Twelve farmer-solicitor teams accounted for $39,400 of local investment capital on the one-day drive Tuesday for the proposed farmer’s elevator to be constructed in Marion. A total of about $70,000 is sought.

The board of education and faculty of Centre Rural High School, the new consolidated high school located near U.S.-56 between Lincolnville and Lost Springs, are inviting the public to an open house on Sunday, April 5.

There now are two historical museum buildings in Marion County. One is the former Baptist Tabernacle building on Marion’s Main Street just east of the park. The other is the early day sod house moved recently to Hillsboro’s Memorial Park.

A dinner at Coons’ Restaurant Wednesday evening honored Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pasley, George, Lynn, and Louise, who are leaving soon for their new home in Rensselaer, Ind. Those present included the following personnel of the Soil Conservation office and their families: Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Melcher and Gary, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoover and Sandy, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Schwemmer, Jerry and Mike, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Muse.

Four girls were injured Sunday afternoon when the pickup truck they were riding in overturned west of Burdick. The truck was owned by Alvin Nienstedt and driven by his daughter, Joyce. All four girls were thrown from the cab, when the truck turned over. Only slightly injured, the four were Joyce Nienstedt, Doris Richmond, Linda Gutsch, and Sandra Janzen.
