The county’s police and emergency 24-hour two-way radio service started operation last Tuesday, April 7. Sterling Frame, one of the night operators, was initiated in fine style, handling some 90 transmissions that night. Present operators include Frame, LuVena Van Horne, and Loren Kelsey.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester O. Unruh, of near Hillsboro, will be honored Monday at a luncheon in Kansas City. They are one of five couples named for state recognition in the balanced farming and family living program of the Kansas State University Extension Service.
Mrs. Stanley Anderson, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Karl Vogel, invited girls of the morning kindergarten class as guests to celebrate the sixth birthday of daughter, Sandra Kay. Included were Sharon Anderson, Linda Bernhardt, Vicky Bloomquist, Shelly Batt, Debbie Case, Brenda Foth, Brenda Helmer, Ginger Helmer, Marilyn Janzen, Janet Lawrence, Betty Sue Linn, Ruth Morse, Mary Jo Reznicek, Denise Schlehuber, Debra Vogt, Denise Wiens, and Susan Wood.
For a few hours early Sunday morning, we had a real blizzard. It did not last long, however, and by afternoon, the snow was gone.
