The feast of Saint Luke, patron of physicians, is Saturday, Oct. 18, and marks the sixth anniversary of the opening of Saint Luke Hospital. During those six years, steady progress has been made by the hospital from many angles. Admissions have increased 45%, average number of persons in the hospital each day has increased 90%, and number of beds available has increased 33% by the addition of a new wing this year.

The Football Caravan to Herington last week worked out so well that many have asked it be repeated when the Warriors go to Florence this Friday night. The convoy will line up at 6:45 p.m. along Santa Fe Street, heading east and will leave promptly at 7 p.m.

The city commission is publishing notices to residents this week against two possible happenings. It is pointed out that freezing weather will endanger many unprotected water meters. Should your meter freeze and burst, the city is not responsible. The other notice deals with the shooting of BB guns within the city limits. It is a violation of a legal ordinance with a penalty provided for the parents of children who are found guilty of doing so.

Mrs. L.L. Hadsell entertained with an Italian dinner Friday evening complimenting Norma Hannaford who left Tuesday for a tour of Europe with friends from El Dorado.

Mrs. Ralph Melton will be the speaker at the Morning Star community meeting Oct. 20. She will speak on the early history of Marion and its surrounding territory.

A night shoot, under the brightly flood-lighted traps on the Marion Airport grounds has been scheduled for October 21. Ham and bacon will be awarded as prizes.
