S.W. (Scottie) Gound, Marion automobile dealer, was unanimously elected president of the Marion Chamber of Commerce at the regular December meeting held at noon Monday at Kingfisher’s Inn. Also elected were Wm. K. Holmes, vice president and two board of directors members, Walter Oelschlager and Harry Wilson.

Tuesday, Feb. 3, has been chosen as the date for the annual Cottonwood Valley Poultry Barbecue and Jamboree in Marion. Marion County is the top poultry-producing county in the state, and this annual affair is one of the best of its kind, officials say.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Carlson celebrated their son, Greg’s, first birthday Sunday with a family gathering and dinner.

Dear Santa Claus—I am a 4-year-old girl, and I am trying to be a good girl so you will bring me the toys I want. I want skates, umbrella, baby doll, a costume of a queen, a cut out book, jewelry, records and record player, fur coat, car coat, ironing board and bicycle. Mrs. David Wheeler, Mrs. C.B. Wheeler, Miss Maude Thompson, Mrs. Alice Padgett and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Padgett went to Wichita Tuesday evening where they attended the Christmas program given by the two Wichita University’s vocal choirs and the brass choir. Mrs. David Wheeler’s daughter, Lenore, is a member of the university choir.
