Ray Vinduska, Marion’s assistant postmaster, was elected last week to be president of the Marion Community Athletic Association for 1959. Vinduska will take over from Ed Frickey, high school coach, who has headed the popular organization for the past year.

Management of the West Side Motel and Grocery will change hands the first of January when new owners take over from the Jack Newtons, who have owned the business for the past three years. Mr. and Mrs. Harry F. Hyson of Wichita have purchased the business place and will operate it after the first of January.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Janzen and family will move to Peabody some time after the first of the year where he has leased the Conoco Service station on the highway. Janzen will take over operation of the station Jan. 1.

D.B. Jantz, Studio Moderne, and Presbyterian Church receive first place in the residential, business, and institution categories of Marion’s Christmas decoration contest.

Midshipmen David Montgomery and John R. Williams arrived from the Naval Academy at Annapolis Saturday for a Christmas vacation with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Montgomery and Mr. and Mrs. John Williams.

In special services Sunday, Dec. 14, Our Savior Lutheran Church celebrated its 20th anniversary by burning mortgages on the church and on the parsonage. Both have been paid in full during this 20th anniversary year.
