Lt. Dean Klenda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Klenda of Route 4, Marion, is listed as “missing in action” by the U.S. Air Force. Mr. and Mrs. Klenda received a telegram Friday which officially notified them that Dean was missing in action as of Sept. 17. He has been flying F-105 “Thunderjet” fighter-bombers in the Vietnam war zone since going overseas in June.

Marion’s traditional Rube Band is all set for this year’s Old Settlers Day parade. Nodie Baker has his tuba all ready and the band is expecting to hear from Carl Sheldon who will again play the trombone.

The band will gather at Bud’s Conoco Station in full uniform Saturday morning prepared to play “Show Boy” as they march in the parade. An additional dozen school bands are expected to join the Rube Band for this year’s traditional event.

Orlen Wohlgemuth, 46, prominent young Ebenfeld area farmer, died Friday of injuries received when his arm became caught in a forage field cutter.

Peter Pan Ice Cream Store at 213 E. Main is advertising 4 ice cream or sherbet pints for 79 cents, a dozen ice cream sandwiches for 99 cents, and 2 quarts of soda pop for 49 cents.

That Marion is a genuinely friendly town can be attested to be 700 new families who have moved here in recent years, and who have received a warm and friendly greeting in the form of the “Welcome Basket.” This service to newcomers originated in 1956 as a project of the 20th Century Club.
